Privacy Policy
What personal information we hold, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. Who this covers
This policy explains how Lambutech Africa Limited handles personal information on LambuVet. It covers everybody with an account — farm owners, veterinary staff, field staff and administrators — and anybody who writes to us through the contact page.
It is written to align with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation. Under that law we are the data controller for the information described below.
2. What we hold
| Information | Why we hold it |
|---|---|
| Name, email address, telephone number | To identify your account, sign you in, and contact you about your own records |
| Role, job title, veterinary licence number | To decide what you may see and do, and to attribute clinical work to the person who did it |
| State and Local Government Area | To group farms and reports geographically |
| Profile photograph, where you upload one | To help colleagues recognise you. Entirely optional |
| Sign-in times and IP address | Security. So you can see when your account was used, and from where |
| A record of what you changed | The activity log. Veterinary records are evidence, and evidence needs to say who wrote it |
| Your enquiry, if you use the contact page | To answer you |
We do not collect information about your health, your beliefs, your political views or your biometrics. We do not use tracking cookies, and there is no advertising on this platform.
3. On what basis
- To perform our contract with you — running your account and the platform.
- Our legitimate interest — keeping the platform secure, and keeping an activity log that makes the records trustworthy.
- Legal obligation — where veterinary or public-health law requires a record to be kept.
- Your consent — for anything optional, such as a profile photograph or an email alert you switched on. You can withdraw it at any time.
4. Emails we send
Two kinds. Alerts are yours to control: Profile → Email alerts lists every one your role can receive, and you decide which are worth an email. Everything still appears in the application whether or not you tick it.
A small number cannot be switched off, because switching them off would be dangerous rather than merely quiet: a critical veterinary case, an outbreak report, a change to your own account's security, and the code that completes your sign-in. An alert that an attacker could disable is not a safeguard.
5. Who else sees it
We do not sell personal information, and we never will. Inside the platform, what other users can see is decided by their role and by the farms they reach — a farm owner sees the people on their own farms, not a directory of every user.
We share information outside the platform only with:
- our hosting and email providers, who process it on our instructions in order to run the service;
- Nigerian regulatory or veterinary authorities, where the law requires it;
- anybody you explicitly ask us to share it with.
6. How it is protected
- Passwords are hashed, never stored as text, and never visible to us.
- Traffic is encrypted in transit.
- Optional two-step sign-in emails a single-use code that expires.
- Access is decided twice on every request: by your role's permissions and by whether you reach the record's farm. One without the other is never enough.
- Idle sessions are signed out automatically.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
7. How long we keep it
Account information is kept while the account is active. Veterinary and animal records are kept for as long as the farm's records are maintained, because a treatment given today may matter years from now — see the Data Policy. Contact enquiries are kept until they are dealt with, and then for a reasonable period afterwards. Activity logs are kept for as long as the records they describe.
8. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything inaccurate — most of it you can correct yourself, on your profile;
- delete your personal information, where no law or legitimate interest requires us to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- provide it in a portable format. The export tools already do this for the records you can see.
Write to support@lambuvet.com. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Children
LambuVet is not intended for anybody under 18, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children. If you believe we hold a child's information, tell us and we will remove it.
